About: Beyond Pesticides
Welcome! We are a group of Limerick natives and residents; teachers, scientists, parents, and environmentalists who are concerned about the continuous and ever rising use of pesticides (mainly glyphosate- based weed killers) in public spaces in Limerick City and County. For years we have watched footpaths, green spaces, tree bases, and spaces exceedingly close to private driveways being sprayed by contractors hired by the Limerick City and County Council. This is our main concern and we have come together as a community to elicit change. This project begun informally in 2022 when one of our advisors noticed the spraying on his avenue and begun to ask questions. Now in 2025, we are a whole community of concerned individuals throughout Limerick City and County who believe that we can move past the antiquated use of pesticides and find more modern, environmentally safe ways to maintain aesthetics in public spaces throughout our town. We meet a few times a year and are always welcoming new faces, so if you are feeling inclined send us an email for the next meeting time and location! If a meeting isn’t possible and you’d like to get involved in other ways, head over to our GET INVOLVED page to see sample emails/ addresses to send, or to our petition to sign. Any questions give us a shout!
